YOUR DAILY BOSOX: Anthony Richard “Tony C” Conigliaro of Boston, Mass., 1967 All-Star, AL Comeback of the Year 1969, youngest American League Home Run Champ in the game (1965, age 20, 32 dingers). Sweet, Caroline!

The pride of St. Mary’s in Lynn, Massachusetts, Tony C. was signed by the Boston Red Sox out of high school on Boston’s North Shore, at the tender age of 17. Two years later as a rookie, in the 1964 season, Conigliaro hit .290 with 24 HRs and 52 RBIs before getting derailed by injury in August.

When he hit 32 HRs the year after, during the 1965 season, Conigliaro became the youngest American League Home Run Champion in history at age 20. Two years later, he was on the 1967 All-Star Team.
