Walnut Court: Here Comes the Neighborhood

Cincinnati Vice Mayor David Mann, development team from Affordable Living by ERS, unveil newly renovated $7.6M Walnut Court senior apartments tomorrow

Grand Reopening Celebration set for 11 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, August 30, 2016.

Walnut Court: 30 newly renovated apartments for lower-income seniors in Cincinnati.

Historic Cincinnati neighborhood of Walnut Hills continues development trajectory.

[CINCINNATI, Ohio ~ August 29, 2016] The rebirth of Cincinnati’s urban core is getting a $7.6 million long-term solution for a dire need – affordable housing for low-income seniors – at a Walnut Hills apartment complex.

The celebration of Walnut Court (www.walnutcourtcincinnati.com) begins with the grand reopening tomorrow, with stakeholders including Episcopal Retirement Services (ERS), The Model Group, the City of Cincinnati, Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing (OCCH), the Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA), Newbar Design Group, Huntington National Bank and Red Capital Group attending.

The renovations needed to bring Walnut Court up-to-code and up to Affordable Living by ERS standards – ERS is the project developer – took a little less than a year to accomplish.

Cincinnati Vice Mayor David Mann is scheduled to make remarks at tomorrow’s event at the site, 1020 Chapel St., located minutes from Downtown and just off of Gilbert Avenue.

We are pleased to bring safe, affordable, community living for seniors to Walnut Hills,” said Kathy Ison-Lind, ERS Vice President of Affordable Housing and In-Home Services.

Seniors facing financial challenges should have access to high-quality communities with services to help keep them living well and thriving.”

WHAT’S GOOD FOR OTR IS GREAT FOR WALNUT HILLS; CONTINUING THE MOMENTUM

How popular has the project become between the partners?

OHFA saw such tremendous value in the Walnut Court project that the agency made available additional funding that permitted a more complete renovation than the original budget originally had allowed.

Affordable Living by ERS believes that older adults should live with dignity and comfort in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment, no matter what their financial situation.

Operating a portfolio of more than two dozen senior communities throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, ERS is proud to offer affordable senior living communities that provide a variety of options and services not often found in communities for seniors with limited incomes.

Services such as transportation, social services and even light healthcare are offered so seniors can age in place as successfully as possible.

Walnut Court offers 21 one-bedroom and nine two-bedroom apartments for qualified residents who meet income requirements for age 62 or older; or 18 and older with a mobility disability.
